A Successful Failure

Irrespective of façade social status, manipulated records of righteousness or financially publicised reputation, what rules over humans is time. Some people do say "time is God"; but for atheists, time could be the intractable force that exposes the truth in future, despite the efforts of humans that veil the reality today.
Muhammadu Buhari

Prior to the 2015 presidential election in Nigeria, the present occupier of the presidential office – Muhammadu Buhari – promised Nigerians jobs, constant electricity, affordable housing, an extremely subsidized health services and one meal a day.

In the aspect of job creation, the man from Daura created a N30,000 monthly salary employment for thousands after his economic policy had resulted to the retrenchments and sackings of millions of professionals in all industries. Besides, thousands of small businesses were forced to make exit. Consequently, hardship becomes nourished in the glorified fight against opposition members which is tagged anti-corruption.

In lieu of provision of constant electricity, the supply of darkness becomes continuous with not sign of an end.
Fela Durotoye
To add to the pain, increase of electricity tariffs become the only forte of the electricity distribution companies in the nation which are owned by the allies of those in power.

Provision of housing never exist in reality but on billboards, handbills, posters and fliers, the president had built over 100,000 houses for “his masses” but not the suffering people in the country, some of whom had been made homeless by governors like Akinwunmi Ambode and Ibikunle Amosun in Lagos and Ogun States respectively.

Donald Duke
Despite the emphasis on subsidized health services, the campaigner of the services himself could NOT spend a night in any federal government hospital. Rather, medical services in London, which were paid for in thousands of British pounds sterling, were all his targets for any form of ailment.

As promised, hardship which was a core point in his manifesto during the 2015 campaign has strongly gained ground. Then, Buhari called it one meal a day.
Omoyele Sowore
Expectedly, cost of feeding has gone up by 200% or more. With the change of Buhari, Nigeria inarguably becomes one of the poorest countries in the globe.

In less than two weeks, millions of Nigerians would be at the poll again. Who will be their choice for the presidential office? Would it be Omoyele Sowore, Fela Durotoye, Atiku Abubakar, Donald Duke, Chris Okotie, Hamza Al-Mustapha or the incumbent?

If an opposition receives more votes than the incumbent, would such a candidate be declared the winner?
Atiku Abubakar
If electoral manipulations are enforced to the merits of the incumbent, will the electorates not be governed by half-a-meal-per-day policy at the next level?

If democracy is a government of numbers, then it should be assumed that the numbers must have been determined before now. Strategy of publicity is the only next step of those who are paid for such. Who are those employed for the announcement? You may need to guess the answer.
